Senior Network Engineer

Red Wing, MN and Hudson, WI

StarTech Computing, Inc. is seeking a full-time senior level Network Engineer to join our Red Wing, MN and Hudson, WI team. In this position, you would be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining computer networks of varying complexity for our customers as well as assisting them in making the right IT choices for their individual situations. Responsibilities

Identify client needs and design appropriate solutions
Design, implement and maintain server virtualization solutions
Design, implement and maintain Windows Server based networks
Troubleshoot complex issues with various hardware and software platforms
Perform regular network and server maintenance for customers such as applying software and firmware updates
Mentor less experienced engineers and assist others with complex troubleshooting tasks
Perform work outside of normal business hours when required in order to minimize customer downtime
Lead the execution of IT projects
Maintain clear and concise logs of work performed
Responsible for updating tickets, project support tasks assigned to them, and daily time tracking in a timely manner
Keep customer network documentation updated

Job Requirements

Proven ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies and processes with minimal hands-on training
Fluency with Windows desktop and server operating systems
Experience with the design, installation, and maintenance of Active Directory networks and related services
Experience with the design, installation and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange and SQL servers and services
Experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization platforms
Experience with troubleshooting complex server, application, and network performance issues
Advanced understanding of common network technologies such as routers, switches, network cabling, TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, and DNS
Well versed in the use of the PowerShell command line interface; PowerShell and VBScript scripting languages
Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
Ability to work within a team and with limited direction or supervision
Ability to multitask and deal with frequent interruptions
Exceptional customer service skills
Continuing education on current industry trends for relevant software and hardware
2 year technical program; equivalent work experience will be considered
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), MSCA, or MCSE certification
